On 1st February 2007 a new infantry regiment was formed: The Rifles. It was made up of the Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry, the Royal Gloucester, Berkshire and Wiltshire Light Infantry, the Royal Green Jackets, and the Light Infantry.
The Rifles Association also formed in 2007 and is open to serving and veteran members of the Rifles and veterans of the forming Regiments.
Since the formation of the Rifles, the Devonshire and Dorset Regimental Association has continued with social and commemorative events regularly in both counties and annually in London, has Branches and Focal Points in both counties and an annual Reunion in Exeter, is active on social media, enjoys monthly bulletins in the ‘Janner’ and an annual Newsletter.
Membership of the Association is open to anyone who has served for one day or longer in regular or reserve service in the Devonshire Regiment, the Dorset Regiment and/or the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment. The Association particularly welcomes former members of the Regiment who continued their service in the Rifles.
